#189 Shakudo Mask

A shakudo over shibuichi silver Japanese warrior head or mythic character of darkened bronze, engraved and etched, and embellished with gold and other precious metals. Although these buttons were not originally used for garment closure, they are prized and collected. They were worn over a man’s Obi sash as a counter weight for a money purse or tobacco case. An exceptional example of Japanese metalwork. Est. selling price is $600-1500.
