#53 18th C. Revival Decoupage Kite Scene

This 19th C. revival of an 18th C. French decoupage scene under glass features a house, a tower-like structure and a flying kite. Decoupage originated in Italy, traveling to France in the 18th Century. Small pieces of colored paper form the picture. Because of this type of construction these button scenes are always one-of-a-kind and often present a study in artful naiveté. One piece brass mount with loop shank. Tiny nick on edge of front glass at 7:00 o’clock. (NOTE: Description revised after catalog printing). Est. selling price is $200-400.
